Job Description/Purpose

Responsible for performing analytical tests and experiments in a laboratory setting to support the research, development, and quality control of products and processes

Job Responsibilities

  • Receiving and sorting of samples numerically
  • Drying of samples
  • Pulverizing and crushing of samples
  • Weighing of samples and pulps
  • Determination of moisture and slimes content in samples
  • Determination of heavy mineral content in samples by means of heavy liquid density separation
  • Determination of particle size distribution
  • Determination of LOI/GOI on pulp samples
  • Perform sample preparation using pressed powder pellet and fusion techniques
  • Analyze samples using analytical instruments
  • Monitors consumable levels and report to Supervisor
  • All analysis conducted as per standard operating procedures and QA / QC standards
  • Records information e.g. received, not received, incorrect labelling etc.
  • Complete daily checklists
  • Ensure all data from analysis is correctly captured in LIMS system
  • Reports any defects and or abnormalities on equipment
  • Inspect equipment before use
  • Perform first line maintenance on equipment as required
  • Ensures good housekeeping
  • Sample archiving and disposal activities
