Responsible for overseeing the safe implementation of Environmental Management Systems, Environmental Monitoring Programs, and implementing Ecological Rehabilitation Monitoring and Restoration Program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and actively taking part in the implementation of EMS activities.
  • Ensuring sound environmental management and good environmental practices are implemented and adhered to.
  • Overseeing the Environmental Monitoring Programmes activities.
  • Implement the ecological rehabilitation monitoring and restoration program activities to the highest standards, in compliance with industry best practice standards and protocols, regulatory requirements, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Implementing the Environmental Management Systems to the highest standards; in compliance with industry best practice standards and protocols, regulatory requirements, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Delivery of the Environmental Department’s objectives and activities.

Key Achievement

As an integral member of the Environment team, successfully helped Base Titanium become the only mining company in East and Central Africa to attain ISO 14001:2015 certification.

Conducted an MSc field research project in Base Titanium on the silt dam to determine the impacts of the Silt dam on macroinvertebrate species assemblage. (The project manuscript is under peer review).

Job Description/Purpose

Responsible for safely implementing ecological rehabilitation monitoring and restoration program. Providing technical support to the ecological monitoring team within the Department and the Mining team working on rehabilitation.

Specific roles include oversight on the monitoring of, vegetation, macroinvertebrates, herpetofauna, avifauna, erosion control,  restoration and trials, alien weed control, soil analysis and reporting on rehabilitation progress.
